FEDVIP (Federal Employees Dental & Vision Insurance Program)

One of the most overlooked retiree benefits — provides dental and vision insurance to military retirees and their eligible family members through a federal group plan. TRICARE medical does NOT cover dental or vision for retirees, making FEDVIP the only federal pathway for that coverage. Multiple dental and vision carriers compete for your enrollment, so premiums and coverage vary. Enrollment window: 60 days after retirement (do not miss this). Retirees can also enroll during the Federal Benefits Open Season each November. Administered by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
