Department of Defense program connecting military spouses with employers who have made a formal commitment to recruit, hire, promote, and retain them. Hundreds of partner employers span federal agencies, Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, and nonprofits, with a searchable job portal maintained through Military OneSource. Exists because military spouses face roughly 25 percent unemployment and a 25 percent wage gap relative to civilian counterparts, with 77 percent wanting or needing work — driven largely by relocation every two to four years and state-by-state licensing barriers. Free to spouses; partner employers commit publicly and report on hiring.
