Anonymous, crowdsourced review platform for military barracks, dining facilities, gyms, medical clinics, and other on-base facilities — built in 2023 by Robert Evans, a former Army sergeant with 12 years in the Army Reserve and North Carolina National Guard, after a GAO report documented mold, pest infestations, and structural failures in barracks across ten installations. Often described as 'Yelp for the enlisted.' Service members from all branches rate conditions and upload photos without attaching name or rank; the app can auto-file the review to DISA ICE, the official DoD feedback channel that reaches installation leadership. Evans has since briefed the Secretary of the Army, spoken alongside the congressional Quality of Life Panel, and joined a DoD barracks task force. The team also publishes original investigative research on barracks maintenance contracting and military dining. Companion platform VetStats extends the same anonymous-review model to VA clinics and medical centers — rating service quality, mental health care access, and wait times. The charitable arm of the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS) — provides emergency financial assistance and interest-free loans to Guard Soldiers, Airmen, and their families across all 50 states and U.S. territories. Covers urgent needs including rent and mortgage, utilities, medical expenses, disaster-related losses, and relocation costs. Serves active, traditional Guard, retired, and former Guard members of all ranks — EANGUS membership not required. Fills a critical gap: Guard and Reserve families fall through the cracks of programs designed for active duty, and this is their dedicated emergency safety net.

A program by veterans for veterans — Onward Ops focuses on the critical 12-month window between leaving the military and reintegrating into civilian life, the period when suicide risk is three times higher than any other time. Led by Brig. Gen. (ret.) Mike Eastman, Onward Ops connects transitioning service members with trained volunteer sponsors from their destination community who check in weekly, provide local knowledge, and make sure no one navigates the transition alone. Free planning tools, a personalized transition dashboard, Google Workspace, and access to benefits and resources complete the model. On track to reach 100,000 veterans annually by 2026 — roughly half of all separating service members. Available to active duty, Reserve, and National Guard members, and veterans within 90 days of separation. Partners include the Veteran Sponsorship Initiative (VSI). The federal government's front door for veteran entrepreneurship, run by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Congress created the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) program to help veterans take full advantage of business ownership; SBA funds a national network of 31 VBOC organizations serving all 50 states, plus "Super" VBOCs now expanding in high-veteran-density regions. VBOCs provide no-cost entrepreneurial development — business plan development, counseling, mentorship, and Boots to Business training run with installation Transition Service Managers — and, critically for financing, they help veterans navigate SBA's resource-partner network and refer them to a community partner, lender, or SBA loan program. This is the honest first stop for a veteran asking "where do I get a business loan": the VA does not make business loans, but SBA-backed products do — 7(a) loans up to $5 million, Express loans up to $500,000 with fast decisions, microloans of $50,000 or less for startups, and the Military Reservist Economic Injury Disaster Loan (MREIDL) for businesses that lose a key employee to active-duty call-up. VBOCs also connect veterans to CDFI lenders for early-stage capital. Free.
