Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH)

Congressionally chartered veterans organization under Title 36 U.S. Code Chapter 1405, formed in 1932 and headquartered near Washington, D.C., with roughly 49,300 members. Membership is exclusively limited to service members who received the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat, which makes it the only national organization composed entirely of combat-wounded veterans. Mission is to foster goodwill and camaraderie among combat-wounded veterans, promote patriotism, support legislative initiatives, and provide service to all veterans and their families. The MOPH Service Program assists all U.S. military veterans — members and nonmembers alike — in working with the VA and filing benefit claims. Also runs a youth activities program and a sister organization, the MOPH Auxiliary, open to parents, spouses, children, and widows of Purple Heart recipients.
